Customer Reviews

What others say about my books (translated from German Amazon Reviews):

Very useful for studying and as a reference
When it comes to Linux, I would describe myself as an "advanced beginner". I like working on the command line and the different Linux programs to address different tasks. You never know what you don't know, and that's why I enjoyed Heike Jurzik's book "Linux Commands from A to Z". I discovered many useful commands which have become part of my everyday life. The author explains the most important parameters, never going into too much detail. This keeps things interesting, yet encouraging you to try out more. I think, this book is very useful.

A Book worth reading
Not just a list of commands with all available parameters. The commands are explained very well and illustrated with clear examples. The book is not only for beginners, but also for users with a "healthy half knowledge" (like me)—a highly recommendable work. An extra star for the great layout, which invites you to flip through the pages.

Suitable for Linux Newbies
I use Linux on a rather old private PC and I always wanted to know more about the commands of a Linux system. Heike Jurzik's ebook teaches exactly this. As a tech newbie, it takes some time getting used to it, because there are mainly alphabetically sorted commands in the book. With good explanations between the pages and fine humor on the subject. I have fiddled my way through and tried it out. And I am really satisfied. It's a really good book for command line users. Superbly done.

As usual competent, informative, and well written. With this book even beginners will manage to install and maintain Debian. It is worthwhile if you want to learn more about Debian.

An exciting Project for Raspi Fans
The book offers a lot of tips for the realization of the project. Especially the link to the German user manual of NextcloudPi is particularly good for "non-Germans", like for me. The colored print makes the work easy to read. You should have a basic knowledge of the Linux shell.

As a Linux beginner, you may be startled at first when you see this weighty tome. But don't worry, the author writes straightforwardly, so that even as a beginner you won't lose the focus. I have already read several Linux books and tried several distributions. Thanks to this book, I am very happy with Debian after all!

I've known Heike Jurzik as a journalist and Linux professional for some time now. In her new book, she has written down lots of shell commands and explanations—all essential Linux commands for beginners, an overview of frequently used parameters and options, garnished with understandable explanations and practical examples. The cute penguin is a bonus!
